Caillou is an educational Canadian children's tv show, based on the books by writer Christine L'Heureux and illustrator Hélène Desputeaux. Throughout the 1st season, most of the tales in the animated version started with a grandmother introducing the storyline to her grandkids, then reading the story about the book. Since 1997, the grandmother is an unseen character. Caillou first broadcast on Canada's Teletoon channel in 1998, it later on made its US debut in English on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Public television on September 4, 2000. A 5th Season came out in 2013, and it airs on PBS Kids. Caillou also airs on PBS Sprout.

According to the books by Christine L'Heureux, the show centres on a 4 years old identified Caillou who's interested by the world surrounding him. He has lots of adventures with his family and friends and uses his creative thinking in all episode. Caillou lives in a blue house on 17 Pine Street together with his mommy, daddy, and his 2 years old sister, Rosie.

The fire chief visits Caillou’s daycare. Everybody finds out about fire safety, they've got a fire drill. Caillou and Leo are able to sit inside the fire engines and sound the siren. Right now both boys have interesting dreams of growing up to become a firefighting squad.

Caillou's Family

Caillou - A bald-headed 4-years old boy with a stunning imagination with friends and family who support him voyage the trials and hardships of a little kid.

Mommy - Caillou's mommy. She is a busy housewife almost at all times but sometimes appears to work in an office too. Voiced by Jennifer Seguin.

Daddy - Caillou's daddy. He and Caillou sometimes work on tasks at home. He generally wears a green sweater with red trim while at home. Voiced by Pat Fry.

Rosie - Caillou's energetic and lovely 2 years old sister who is a normal toddler. She usually desires to get involved in the same activities as Caillou. She wears a blue dress, red socks and blue Mary Jane shoes. Rosie was initially voiced by Brigid Tierney, and then Jesse Vinet.

Grandma - Caillou's paternal grandma. Grandma is a really energetic adult who enjoys the arts and the outdoors. Voiced by Pauline Little.

Grandpa - Caillou's paternal grandpa. He usually brings Caillou on journeys, usually going on walks and riding the bus across the town where they reside. Voiced by George Morris.
